This workshop or "Crossbowman's Den" is located in the heart of Granthams' Landing on the Sunshine Coast, in British Columbia, Canada. Crossbow-maker, Robin Allen, also makes his home here. Born and raised in England, Robin has been making crossbows since the age of 15. He moved to Canada in 1970 with his wife Wendy and baby Lisa. Tania who likes to be called the chosen one, was born in B.C.
With fifty years of experience, he has refined his style and technique to an award-winning standard. Robin has recently been accepted into "THE ROYAL ORDER OF SAINT GEORGE'S COMPANY OF CROSSBOWMEN" in Brussels, Belgium. This guild has stayed active since Circa 1031 A.D. Robin is the first person to be accepted from Canada. Only three North Americans have been recognized by the guild. The most famous of the two others was George Armstrong Custer of the Little Big Horn. The other was an Arch Bishop of Chicago and George Stevens was recognized in 1970.
Robin is a member of The Cranequin Crossbow Fellowship in Canada. This Society consists of crossbowmen and archers who organize weekend shoots on the Sunshine Coast. This is a chance for each crossbowman or archer to show off their talents and craftsmanship.
On Sundays, the shop, practices an open door policy where the coffee pot is always on. Robin is a gifted teacher who has the ability to share his knowledge and skills with those who truly love the art. It's not surprising that on the weekends his shop is always a hub of activity and there is never a dull moment as novices struggle to emulate the master. The passion with which Robin works is truly noble and inspiring.
